Ive been wanting to adopt another dog for some time, probably before Tucker died. Joe, not so much. We talked about fostering for Dakota Dog Rescue out of Yale but we never could get together with them.
And yet it happened. End of August, I took Indie to BCHS to look. I was interested in meeting Andy, thinking we’d have Indie and Andy but he turned out to be a big, hairy white dog. Indie didn’t seem to be a fan either. Next dog was Banjo but he was kept on a leash and wouldn’t let Indie get close to him. Last was Harley. He was a confiscation 10 months prior.
We tested the dogs together and he seemed to be a good fit. So I adopted him. BCHS had no idea how old he is but he seems young, between 1-3 y.o.
Bringing him home- he started marking furniture. Urgh. Not good. His first month with us, he marked 4 or 5 times. But he’s smart, learns quickly and likes his crate. Other than playing right with Indie, he is a love. It didn’t take long for Joe to attach to him but I see how he treats Marley (renamed).
Being part husky, he tends to wander and has taken Indie on a walkabout. For the most part though he knows where home is and isn’t gone long. 🤞🤞🤞
As of today, we’ve had Marley for 2 months and he is a really good dog. I hope with time and age he will mellow and not be so rough with Indie. He is a love and mostly well behaved so I think we’ll keep him.
